Charity Block #8: Ravenclaw Stripes

I finally got around to the last of the Hogwarts house blocks: Ravenclaw! (I’m a Ravenclaw, and my favorite color is blue, so I was looking forward to this one.) I wanted to do broad rugby-type stripes, but with a 9-inch long block, there’s not a lot of room to work with, so the stripes are only an inch wide. I still like how it turned out, though.

What you’ll need:

  • Worsted weight acrylic in blue and bronze
  • Size 8 needles
  • Yarn needle for finishing

Skills you’ll need:

Finished measurements: 7 inches wide by 9 inches long

Gauge: 4-4.25 stitches per inch

Cast on 30 stitches.

Knitting every odd row and purling every even row, follow this color pattern:

6 rows: blue

6 rows: bronze

6 rows: blue

6 rows: bronze

6 rows: blue

6 rows: bronze

6 rows: blue

6 rows: bronze

6 rows: blue

Bind off on the 6th row of blue. (It’ll be a purl row. If you’d rather bind off on a knit row, you can bind off on the next row.)

Sew all ends under.

Now that all the house stripe blocks are done, which is your favorite? Have you ever been sorted into a Hogwarts house? Which house are you?
